Dressing The Part.

Clothing and personal style can affect how you feel about yourself and therefore how you treat yourself. This simply means that fashion plays a major role in self-esteem and the type of energy you give out. This post is for every woman who knows she has a destiny but may need a little help dressing the part for the life, role and recognition she’s always imagined having.

It is old news that as women we struggle with a lot of insecurities, bury our minds in negative thoughts about our bodies and often lose focus on our the potential and abilities. The result in effect, is that, when we do not see ourselves in the position that we want, we will never be able to dress the part for that job, lifestyle or recognition.

Hypothetical Case Study: Miss T.

Miss T works in the an amazing fashion company, in the mailroom to be precise, but she always believed she was fit for a higher role. So everyday, she made a made a conscious decision to dress like she was going on meetings with the CEO. She never wore what was expected of a staff in the  mail room, rather she dressed for the woman she knew she could be and waited for the people to realise she was fit for a higher position and opportunity to fill in that position.

One day, the CEO needed someone in the company to handle a meeting with potential clients and all the members of the marketing team were out. Who do you think got the call to sit in in his absence? Surprise! Surprise! The truth is, Miss T may not have been ready to handle that meeting yet, but she certainly dressed and handled herself in a manner that made her the go to person the CEO could call on and be proud of to represent the company, when the opportunity presented itself.


It’s not just about convincing others to believe in you; it’s about convincing yourself to believe in you too. Looking like the most put-together, elegant, responsible, knowing very of yourself makes you feel and act as such. If you don’t look like you believe in yourself, your destiny and the career position you want, why should anyone else?
